PRTC is the first Chinese laboratory to introduce the world-famous KEMA protocol testing tools and technologies. In June 2004, the engineers of PRTC accepted the training of IEC60870-5-101/103/104 protocols and testing technologies from KEMA. Then three months' later, PRTC passed the audit of test engineer (TE) qualification of KEMA. Now PRTC has set up a first-class protocol testing laboratory in China, with activities covering the protocol type test and certification of IEC60870-5 series, Modbus and CDT (Chinese national protocol).

Besides the cooperation with KEMA Netherlands, PRTC is continuously seeking for the chance to join other worldwide technology associations and groups. Now PRTC has successfully got in touch with Standardization Administration of China (SAC)/TC124 (Chinese National Committee of IEC TC65), and obtained their trust of testing in Modbus protocol field. In the next phase of cooperation, PRTC will likely receive the permission and authorization of using the mark of Modbus-IDA (an international organization researching into Modbus protocol suite) for products which have passed the Modbus protocol test of PRTC.

PRTC concentrates on the improvement of protocol quality of vendor's products. During the years from 2003 to 2005, PRTC has performed over 100 protocol tests for Chinese manufacturers. We divide the protocol test into 2 types, which are conformance test and interoperability test, and 4 ranks, which have different contents and service levels. PRTC regards its testing as an important part of vendor's quality control so that every customer could develop perfect products and make them work steadily and safely on site.

In May 2005, PRTC assumed the interoperability test of fault information systems for over 14 manufacturers on behalf of China Southern Power Grid. It's proved that the project quality of the utility can be guaranteed with the help of protocol test by the third party (PRTC). PRTC has cooperated with Eastern China Grid and Central China Grid, too. Through the communication protocol tests for the large utilities in China, PRTC has accumulated much experience of the solution of electric power system communication.

We are confident that both the manufacturers and the utilities all around the world will benefit from the protocol test and certification, and PRTC can be the best choice for the customers who want to improve their quality of products and projects.
